Londres rend hommage aux ancêtres automobiles


 


L’épreuve désormais mythique du « Londres-Brighton » constitue la grand’messe incontournable pour tout amateur d’ancêtres automobiles antérieurs à 1905.
Pour cette édition 2009, la manifestation a réuni quelques 500 collectionneurs du monde entier qui ont souhaité participer à ce véritable pèlerinage reliant le centre de Londres – Hyde Park – à la belle station maritime Brighton située à 60 milles, soit près de 100 kilomètres - de la capitale britannique.


Comme chaque année, la veille du rallye, une centaine de ces vénérables véhicules pionniers était exposée sur l’imposante « Regent Street », pour la plus grande joie des Londoniens.


Dans le cadre porteur de cette grande manifestation, la maison Bonhams proposait, à son siège de « New Bond Street », une vente aux enchères consacrée à ces premières automobiles (vente de véhicules - parmi lesquels une Panhard & Levassor Type A, bicylindre de 1902 ou encore une alléchante base de vis-à-vis de Dion-Bouton en état d’origine à reconstituer -, vente de documentation ou encore d’articles d’automobilia).


Ainsi, durant le traditionnel premier week-end de novembre, Londres valorise dignement ce remarquable patrimoine roulant.
